The Downtown Y is looking for an experienced Group Fitness Instructor. The instructor must be able to teach cycle, cardio or muscle classes.  One must have a national aerobic certification (AFAA, ACE, etc.). Maintenance of ones certifications is required. Downtown Y Mini-bus driver wanted: Prior bus driving experience a must.  Hours would be 3:15pm-6:30pm Monday - Thursday.  Call for more details at 434-847-5597. 

The Downtown Y is looking for experienced swim instructors.  At least 1 year of swim instruction experience required.  Previous experience with YMCA swim lessons preferred.  Must have current WSI or YMCA Swim Instructor certification.  Lifeguard & CPR certifications a plus.  Apply at the membership desk.

SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE ASSISTANT- ROCKFISH RIVER AFTERSCHOOL (NELSON COUNTY)

PRIMARY DUTIES

•Provide direct supervision of a group of children. Provide a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
•Provide safe supervision of a group of children
•Implement program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA core values
•Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards
•Attend staff meetings and trainings
•Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies
•Maintain positive relations with parents and other staff
•Completion of YMCA specific training/certifications as directed

QUALIFICATIONS

•Minimum age 18
•Previous experience working with children
•Meet educational and experience qualifications established by Virginia State Licensing
•Provide documentation of current negative TB test
•First Aid, CPR, AED and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire
•Work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions
