SUMMER DAY CAMP
YMCA of Central Virginia Summer Camp offers kids from Lynchburg, Appomattox and Nelson County a safe, exciting, and memorable day camp experience. Kids have the opportunity to build self-confidence, independence, and creativity, and parents have peace of mind knowing your kids are in a safe and enriching camp environment. At Y day camp, campers make friends while learning the values of diversity and cooperation while having fun.
Day Camp Activities
Good Morning to You! Good Morning to Me!
Our morning begins with fun songs and a welcome to all during our daily opening ceremony and morning snack time.
BEEP BEEP - Off We Go!
Time to board the big Y bus and head out for a fun field trip! We will explore our community while having fun visiting parks and more!
It's time to get our game on!
KidzGym is a super fun indoor play place. Kids will have a blast staying active on our rock climbing wall, playing interactive games, and participating in indoor sports.
Opportunities to discover new talents, develop new skill sets and tap into potential is around every corner at Y camp. Activities and play time are designed as "purposeful" play. Kids will have hands on experiences that will stick with them for years to come.
Making Friends and Creating Memories!
Each day we will play outdoors and interact with new and old friends, learning about team work and strengthening our social and problem solving skills in a diverse and welcoming environment.
Safe swimming saves lives, and it's fun too!
One of the greatest benefits of Y Day Camp is that kids are given FREE swim lessons. Kids will learn and play in the water in a safe environment under the direct supervision of CPR certified life guards. Through this consistent exposure children gain confidence and skills that can help them be safe around water in the future.

The YMCA of the Central Virginia provides financial assistance for children, teens, adults and families who cannot afford the full cost of a Y membership.
If you are looking for financial assistance for YMCA programs, we offer that too.
We use a sliding fee scale based on total household income and the number of household members. We require supporting documentation to verify household size and income, and we consider special circumstances when providing assistance.
Recipients are expected to be responsible for a percentage of the membership cost.
