The YMCA of Central Virginia received a $150,000 grant from Centra Health during the Centra Community Grants celebration on November 16th. The Y plans to use this grant to create an innovative teaching kitchen in the new Schewel-Clark Family YMCA.

Jay Parker, YMCA of Central Virginia CEO shared that the Y plans to use the kitchen to demonstrate and teach community members of all ages and abilities how to live healthier by cooking nutritious meals for the family. "We plan to grow our partnerships with others, impacting our community and making Lynchburg a better place for all," shared Parker.

The Building for a Better US® Capital Campaign launched this past fall with plans to transform the Downtown Y; transitioning to the Schewel-Clark Family YMCA.
