YMCA For Everyone!

The YMCA of Central Virginia is here for everyone. Our goal is to make our services as accessible for all members of the community regardless of economic and financial status. Those applying for financial assistance can now do so online. Donor support makes financial assistance possible. 

Thanks to generous support from donors to our Annual Fund, scholarship funds are available for membership, and programs (including swim lessons, youth sports, community health programs, and more). 

Final approval of financial assistance will be made by our designated membership committee. After registering online, you will have 30 days to bring the following documents to the Y so that we can complete the application process. Please note that this must be done within 30 days for your discount to remain active. Monthly dues are dependent on application approval.

A copy of documentation for all individuals receiving income in the household must be included in order to be evaluated.

Most recent Federal Tax Return or Letter of Non-File from IRS (Letter of non-file can be retrieved at 1101 Court Street, Lynchburg VA)

AND (if applicable)

  • 2 recent pay stubs or 1099 (Contract workers)
  • SNAP Benefit Statement/TANF
  • Section 8 Housing/Letter of Residency (group home or shelter)
  • Child Support/Alimony Statements
  • Social Security/Disability/Retirement Statements
  • Unemployment Benefits Statement (W6 is required if not employed)
  • Workers Compensation Statement
  • Retirement/Military Allotment/Insurance Settlement/Inheritance Statements
