Jan began her career in fitness in 2012 after devoting nearly 20 years to community educational outreach with Virginia Cooperative Extension.  Currently she instructs a variety of group exercise classes ranging from gentle yoga to HIIT as well as personal training.  She believes that each person has an individual successful path to wellness and optimal health.  Since joining the Central Virginia YMCA family she has also become a certified instructor for the Y’s Diabetes Prevention Program, Enhance Fitness, Livestrong at the YMCA and the LEAN Program.  Jan believes it is important to approach health and wellness holistically which includes more than just exercise.  She feels blessed to be a part of the Y’s community health programs to help people learn how they can live their best, most healthful life. Personally, she enjoys being outside in nature whenever possible.

I graduated from Lynchburg College and lived in Lynchburg in the early 1980s where I was a member of the Downtown Y. Began teaching group fitness about 1990 at the Richmond Metro YMCA when my kids were still in preschool. I moved to Central Pennsylvania and worked at the River Valley YMCA from 1996 to the fall of 2018. I've taught many types of group fitness classes through the years. Because I was never athletic or good at sports, I've had a soft spot toward others who don't feel particularly athletic or who have struggled with their weight. In recent years, I've worked with many older adults, helping them to get stronger, more fit, and flexible. I LOVE helping people feel healthier and more confident, and I LOVE helping get connected and make new friends thru the YMCA! 

Beth Zeisig

Beth began working for the YMCA in December 2013 and has been leading others in their fitness journey since. Because of her love for people, dancing, moving, and music, she became intrigued with group fitness especially Zumba Fitness. Beth says, "I’m certainly not a dancer, but I love to move." Her fitness style could be summed up as a little bit of dance, a little bit of fitness, and a whole lot of passion. In Nov. 2013, by God’s calling, she became a licensed Zumba Instructor, to help others get and stay healthy!

Terry Brame

Terry has been with the Jamerson YMCA for 8 years and has served in various roles including AFAA certified personal training and working with special populations.  She takes a special interest in community health programs to include our Rock Steady Boxing for Parkinson’s, Diabetes Prevention and Enhance Fitness.  Having had her own struggles with weight loss and fitness, Terry enjoys helping to motivate others to meet their own personal goals.
