Storming of Thunder Ridge
MANY MANY THANKS to the 756 riders that joined us to celebrate our 10th Anniversary on May 19, 2019. Registration for the 2020 is open now!
We look forward to seeing you in 2020!
Storming of Thunder Ridge is Lynchburg, Virginia’s only local, fully-supported road cycling event. With the Blue Ridge Mountains as your backdrop, there’s a ride for everyone: 27, 45, 48 (The Mountain Only), 75 and 100 mile options.
The Storming of Thunder Ridge Bicycle Ride is a fundraiser benefiting the YMCA of Central Virginia’s Annual Fund.
The YMCA of Central Virginia's Annual Campaign looks to community members such as yourself to help make a positive difference in the lives of our friends and neighbors.
Through subsidized programs, outreach initiates and community partnerships we bring vital life changing programs to over 3,000 people annually.
Last year we provided over $850,000 in donor supported financial assistance so that everyone in our community could find a safe place to learn, grow and thrive.
If you'd like to help with our Annual Campaign with resources, time or talent, please contact Corey Jeffcoat.
Face the Forest 2019
The Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest and the Jamerson Family YMCA join forces each year to present the annual Face the Forest Obstacle Course Run.
This popular family-friendly event has become a local tradition, welcoming runners and athletes at varying skill levels from around the region.
The YMCA of Central Virginia and Poplar Forest share a common goal of serving as valuable community resources. Entry fees support Children’s Education Programs at Poplar Forest and the Y’s Annual Support Campaign.
Healthy Kids Day
Summer is the time for kids to get up, get out and grow. But for some kids, exposure to activities that stimulate the body and mind ends with the school year. In fact, research shows that kids are prone to gain weight and fall behind in studies.
During the month of April each year the Y celebrates Healthy Kids Day®, our national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids.
Be sure to follow us on Facebook for updates on Healthy Kids Day 2020!
Halloween at the Y
Halloween at the Y is an annual, much-loved celebration and day of fun for the whole family! All proceeds from admission fees support our financial assistance and scholarship programs that assist families, seniors and youth in our community.
Details for the 2019 Halloween Party will be posted on our event calendar soon. Be sure to sign up for emails and text alerts to stay up to date on all Y happenings.
