ABOUT YMCA SWIM LESSONS
The Y is your source for progressive swim lessons for children and adults.
The Y's 8 different levels of instruction mean that your child can begin with the most appropriate level of caring instruction. Adult lessons are for beginning and intermediate-level swimmers.
Whether you're just starting out or want to improve your stroke technique, your instructor will focus on your specific goals.
PARENT/CHILD SWIM LESSONS
For ages 6 months to 36 months
Children participate with a parent in the water. A low student-teacher ratio allows participants to safely develop skills and confidence in the water. Swimmers progress through Stages A and B of the Y's Swim Lessons Stages.
PRESCHOOL SWIM LESSONS
For Ages 3 to 5
Children may participate without a parent in the water. A low student-teacher ratio allows participants to safely develop skills and confidence in the water. Your child's stage will be based on their swim skills, and children will advance through stages as skills improve.
SCHOOL-AGE SWIM LESSONS
For ages 5 to 12
Children are taught progressively, each stage building on skills taught in previous stages. A low student-teacher ratio allows participants to safely develop skills and confidence in the water. Swimmers will be placed based on skill level.
ADULT & TEEN SWIM LESSONS
Ages 13 and up
Whether overcoming fear of the water or refining your swim stroke skills for better fitness, it’s never too late to enjoy the fun and health benefits of swimming. In teen/adult swim lessons for ages 13 and older, instructors tailor lessons to meet each student's abilities and goals.
PRIVATE/SEMI-PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS
Private and Semi-Private swim lessons are for individuals who want one on one or small group instruction from a swim lesson instructor. This program is designed to provide individuals with the experience necessary to participate in large group aquatic programs. Email the Swim School Coordinator to schedule private or semi-private lessons.
